Emily Withnall likes to imagine a world in which all school children create new universes and dimensions for at least an hour every day. She thinks this might be one answer to creating world peace. However, she is fortunate to see kids make magic weekly when she teaches poetry with the Missoula Writing Collaborative. Emily Withnall is also an instructor and a writing tutor at the University of Montana and a freelance editor and communications consultant. Emily has an MS in Environmental Writing from the University of Montana, and her essays and poems appear in Ms. Magazine, High Country News, Pittsburgh Quarterly, Urban Campfire, ZO Magazine, and Mamalode, among others. She is currently at work on a book that examines the parallels between hydraulic fracturing and domestic violence. Emily lives in Missoula, Montana, and enjoys frequent camping trips with her two spunky and imaginative daughters.
