Sept 6, 2011 MWC Artistic Director Sheryl Noethe has been the subject of several news stories since her appointment as Montana's fourth poet laureate. Articles about Sheryl have appeared in The Great Falls Tribune, The Missoulian, and The Missoula Independent.
April 27, 2011 The Missoula Writing Collaborative is supporting Missoula freshman Stella Shannon as she heads to Washington, DC to compete in the National Poetry Out Loud Competition finals. MWC writer Mark Gibbons has been mentoring Stella and will accompany her and her family to Washington. Read more...

Feb 28, 2011 Lone Rock School launches "The Poetry Place," a page on their website for collecting poetry written by students of Marnie Prange, the writer-in-residence from the Missoula Writing Collaborative.
Feb 21, 2011 MWC writers Sheryl Noethe and Chris Dombrowski recently had poems published in NEO, a literary magazine published in the Azores, Portugal. The publication also featured a review of Noethe's poetry collection As Is (Lost Horse Press, 2009) by Judith Harris. Feb 20, 2011 Mackenzie Enich's short film "Notes From a Poet and a One Eyed Cat" debuts at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula. The film tells the story of the birth of the Missoula Writing Collaborative and founder Sheryl Noethe's passion to spread he love of writing to future generations. Watch it here!
Feb 9, 2011 Aerie Big Sky & The Oval — Reading at the Missoula Art Museum
Aerie Big Sky from Big Sky High School and The Oval, the literary magazine from the University of Montana, are collaborating in their third reading at the Missoula Art Museum to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The event will begin at 5:30 pm with poems written in response to art.  These will be shared at an open mic session after the reading, which will begin at 6:00 pm.  Suggested donation of $4.

Nov 18, 2010 Jennifer Greene Reading
Jennifer Greene will read from her new poetry collection—What Lasts—on Thursday, November 18 at 7 p.m.at The Payne Family Native American Center on the University of Montana campus. Jennifer teaches at Two Eagle River School for the Missoula Writing Collaborative. She will be joined by Sheryl Noethe and Mark Gibbons. The reading is free, but donations are welcome.
Oct 28, 2010 Bookfest Pre-fest
Yes, it's true, we'll be at Fact and Fiction on Higgins from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, the eve before the Montana Festival of the Book, Missoula, 2010. Drop in, say "Hi," buy a signed copy of one of our fabulous writers' books, read a kid's poem, drink wine. See you then, ok!
Oct 9, 2010 Missoula Writing Collaborative Students Get Published
Congratulations to Marquette Patterson and Laura Peele from Hydaburg School (Hydaburg, Alaska) whose poem "Mother's Warning" won the Chief Charlo Celebration of Culture Award in Aerie International 2010. MWC resident writer Robert Lee recently began teaching a third, annual short-term residency in Hydaburg.

Our popular summer camp, Words With Wings, a creative writing program for ages 8-14, still has a few openings. Call 549-3348 or download the flyer and mail it in.
