The Missoula Writing Collaborative is excited to present our third Writer’s Room: a single day of writing workshops open to the public. The event is Saturday March 3, 2018and features the following sessions:
Morning Session 10 A.M. TO 12 P.M.
DREAM HOUSE with Sheryl Noethe at Fact & Fiction. Make a poetry collage from the text of Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space.
SONGWRITING with Caroline Keys at Boyle Deveny & Meyer. Come with an open mind, leave with the seed of your next new song.
PROSE POETRY with Anna Zumbahlen at Shakespeare & Company. Considering narrativity and atmosphere with Rosmarie Waldrop, Robert Hass, and others as guides to the prose poem.
SHORT STORIES with Caroline Patterson at the Mamalode Office. Kickstart your ction as your characters argue about money, sex, cars, the dishes.
Afternoon Session 2 P.M. TO 4 P.M.
FREE YOURSELF WITH FORM POETRY withRobert Lee at Fact & Fiction. Frightened to write form poetry? What if it frees up, rather than freezes up your free verse? We’ll write with a design in mind, explore the evolution of form, and find out it’s fun. Join us!
PLACE-BASED PROSE with Nicholas Littman at Shakespeare & Company. Tune in to the particulars of place. We’ll begin with a short walk outside then translate our observations and musings to the page.
CREATING A GRAPHIC NOVEL with Alex Alviar at Boyle Deveny & Meyer No experience necessary—we’ll dive in together.
